WHY WELLNESS?

Shelby County Government is dedicated to the health of our employees. The Total Health Wellness Program was developed in 2012 based on the
following 2011 results for SCG:

  • Hypertension, Diabetes, and Metabolic Disorder were the most prevalent chronic diseases among employees and spouses on the health plan.
  • Coronary Heart Disease, Diabetes, and Hypertension account for the top 3 chronic conditions by costs.
  • Less than 30% of all SCG Health Plan members completed and Adult Wellness visit for preventative health.

CREATING A HEALTHY WORKPLACE

The workplace and the health of the employees within it are inseparable. Ideally, workplaces should not only protect
the safety and well-being of employees but also provide them opportunities for better long-term health and
enhanced quality of life. The goal of the Total Health Wellness Program is to support the health and well-being of Shelby County Government employees.

Total Health Wellness is a program dedicated to empower, encourage, and inspire healthier life decisions amongst Shelby County Government Employees. Our goal is to help employees make informed choices concerning their health by providing educational tools and strategies. We strive to promote all aspects of health including physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being. Total Health Wellness is committed to providing a healthy work environment and promoting a healthier way of life.
